I am directed to inform you that a meeting of Executive
Council which was held on the 4th instant to consider the charges
preferred against Wardmaster Cumming of the Lunatic Asylum, that
officer in the course of his defence stated that whilst in charge
of the Asylum you bad shewn animosity towards him, and that be had
protested at the time against signing the order issued by you on
the 12th October last prohibiting Alcoholic Liquors being taken
into the Asylum.
I am accordingly to request you to be good
enough to furnish me at your early convenience for His Excellency
information with any comments that you may have to offer on the

above statements.
